been married 11 yrs,wife moved out 8 yrs ago,I got soul custody & she decided she wasn’t going to sign contract because she’s living w/ abuser & just had baby & i wont bring her there & she never calls up daughter.she flips out a lot & i just gave notice for leaving my job in summer & move to another state & now i’m stuck.she owes lots of credit cards that have to be paid by sale of house. i’m little slow & she’s taken total advantage of me for 11 yrs. i am a custodian for nyc schools & my bro in law (lawyer) won’t help me at all.Was told i will need seperate lawyer for making her sign contract to sell house, & divorce. i paid for divorce twice on agreeing few yrs ago & lost lots of money.if anyone can help me please let me no where I can find a great compassionate lawyer. i live in Levittown, ny

i have recently began thinking of family law, there is no rush for me to have a definant job in my mind and its like 4 years before i finish high school, but i want to have an idea of what i want to do when i am older. I was thinking law as its helping people and has a good income.

how much does a family lawyer earn? i want to do family law basically consisting around children and the responsibility of a parent after divorce. when you become a family lawyer do you have to do all topics in Family law (e.g. divorce, marriage, civil unions?)

I have 3 very small children. I have a lot on my plate besides being a mom, a single mom at that. I live with my mom and step-dad while I have been going through a divorce and custody battle. My mom has been letting me stay here but my divorce just isn’t ending and now my lawyer has dropped me because I can’t afford to pay her. I get very little support from thier dad and I have no degree. I have to move because the amount of stress it is causing everyone for me to stay with my mom is unbarable for everyone including my kids. My step-dad does not want us there. The problem it is very hard to hold a job with three kids and with the amount of money I make, 99% of it goes to daycare. I cant get assistance because I receive some support though not nearly enough. How do women do it on their own with no help (my parents are moving out of state) in southern California (I do have to stay in Southern

my husband is filing for modification for child support because he lost his job a year ago and he tried to keep up but is to high. the ex went and got a lawyer and want to obligate my husband to pay her lawyer plus us to get a lawyer and also she denied the modification because she does not want it to be modified. i am the only one that is working we can not afford a lawyer and child support told us that by doing it by court is the only way why she hired a lawyer, if is only a modification, can we stop this and if we give the lawyer all the document they are asking is saying yes to her demands, the court told us that they will set up a date and wait. what can we do she is harrasing us.

*that is willing to agree to a payment plan or half of the retainer fee to get things start then the other half in the middle of the case
*a lawyer that is like a "bulldog" thats doesnt take and punchs or bullshit from the opposing party

I just received a letter from CSE saying they were gonna close my case for my non-cooperation. I called them and was very upset, for 8 years now I have given them everything I know, everytime I find something out. Now, they know where he is and they still haven’t done anything. I just don’t know what else to do. I understand they have a lot of cases but 8 years is a long time to wait for no help. He even went to court with CSE and he was sent home because I was not informed, therefore I wasn’t there. When I found out I went to the local office and they said it was not their responsibility to let the custodial parent know everything. I was my job to call. What else can i do????????

Orange County, CALIFORNIA – My ex-wife and I divorced in November, 2009. I have sole physical custody of our two children and we share joint legal custody. The judge ordered her to pay me a week for child care expenses (she is paying me in cash because she doesn’t have a job or a checking account). She has recently told me that she is going to start withholding payment because she said I took things out of her apartment (I didn’t).

What should be my next step? Not getting the /week isn’t going to hurt me that much, but I want to make sure the court knows what she’s doing. What forms should I submit? Who should I contact? How long is the process? Etc. Any advice regarding how to handle this matter would be greatly appreciated.

new environment+independence
Financial Aid officers been REALLY nice and helpful
UC Davis has been telling me to apply ever since last summer…they make me feel "wanted" lol…

Disadvantages-
far from home
I’m not familiar with the area at all (only been to nor cal once)

UCI:
NICE area
close to home

disadvantages
no architecture program
A lot of people I know going there..sort of like high school all over again…

with very similiar FA packages, I am leaning toward Davis.
However, my mom recently got a divorce, and I am, as an only child, my mom’s only relative here in the US. I really don’t want to leave her in so cal all by herself… She gets emotional at the idea that I might be 6 hours away, which makes me very sad

I know Davis would probably be a better college for me, but I am not sure if I am ready to leave home..
At the moment
I am an engineering major for both schools, but I am thinking about doing architecture, which is something that I feel would fit me a lot more

My mom is a real estate agent and as a matter of fact voted in the top 5 for the best realtors in San Diego county. This bad market is terrible, and my mom is going through a divorce with her 2nd husband leaving us in the pit. Having three children with no child support isnt that much of a help either and a 3.5k mortgage a month. There is no way we could sell our home and my mom needs money. We figured out in order to survive she would need a 20 dollar an hour job which does seem really pricey but we need to make the bills.

PLEASE dont reply with those get-rich-quick-survey-schemes. I really need help. With my moms skills is there any high paying jobs out there in Southern California??
