How is auto insurance affected by a divorce when there is a debt owed and its in both parties names?

15,000 owed and in the middle of settling community property. She is the primary driver. As of right now the insurance is set up as if we were still married as the insurance company is not aware of the divorce. What would happen if she were to get into an accident in the vehicle.

Which electives do I need to become an entertainment lawyer?

I am about to start my first year of law school and have been thinking of becoming an entertainment lawyer. Apart from core subjects, which electives or areas are good to choose? I reckon typical choices would be Family, Insurance, Employment laws. Will acquisition or commercial or property or criminal law be helpful?

How do I find a great lawyer in a specialized branch of law in another state?

My long term disability benefits were cancelled after 14 years because the insurance company cherry picked two "good" visits I had with the psychiatrist this year (meaning, I wasn’t on the verge of suicide for once). It turns out that group long term disability policies fall under the federal law called ERISA and disability law under ERISA is a very, very specialized branch of law. Moreover, I have to get an attorney in the state where I became disabled (I live in Minnesota, I need a California lawyer). There is no way I can get a referral to someone good from someone I know & the only lawyer I have ever used in the past was a family lawyer for a minor matter. Social Security disability is a wholly different matter – I’m not looking for an SSDI attorney.

Any tips, other than feel them out in the initial consultation? Thanks for any advice!!
what I am looking for, is how do I know if they are a GOOD lawyer, as opposed to a mediocre one.

My lawyer said it is against the law to sue insurance companies in Illinois, how can I know if this is true?

I am not happy with the settlement the insurance company is offering my family in the wrongful death case of my young sister. She was killed by a drunk boater and the responsible party’s insurance company is offering an unsatisfactory amount of monetary compensation. Our family’s lawyer said we are only able to sue the responsible party and not their insurance company as it is against the law in Illinois to sue insurance companies. How can I research that and find out if there are any loop holes, or if this information is even true? Thank you for you help!

I need a good dental insurance that’s covered in California..?

Well, I need braces and I am 16 years old but, my dad– my parents are divorced– got fired and now I have no dental insurance. My mom and step-dad’s work doesn’t cover dental so I am stuck here without. Can someone please tell me a good dental insurance that covers Southern California and only one member in the family? All the other ones insist that the whole family gets covered… Thank you.

American law concerning divorce and paternity?

Hey, my friend was getting a divorce but his ex stalled it because she got pregnant by some other guy and now needs his insurance. As he is in the military stationed overseas he says that he can’t file from there. Does anybody know whether he would automatically considered to be the father (as their legal status is still married) if he doesn’t manage to file for divorce somehow?
Any help is appreciated.

when divorce accur, does the employer obligated to cover the employee’s ex’s health care insurance for 3 years with same Premium or the employee has to pay higer premium to cover ex? COBRA is way too expensive, how do you deal with it?
