We are both American, and got married in Maryland. Been separated for 8 years and I currently live in Ecuador. She now lives in Virginia. I want to know the fastest – cheapest way to do this as an uncontested divorce.
My husband was in a bad place 4 years ago, and he did not show up for court when his ex was petitioning for him to sign away his rights to his daughter. I he almost done paying the back child support that he owed. He keeps thinking that he wanted to be there to see his daughter, is it too late for him, as far as legally? The bad part about this is his ex wife works for a family law lawyer, so she gets free legal aid, we dont have the money for a lawyer, is this a lost cause? Please help!! She is 8 years old. The mother says that when she is ready for a relationship with her father, probably when she is a teenager, and ready to take on the responsibility of a mental relationship with him, then thats when they can have a relationship, but who knows how long that will be. She does not want us sending her gifts for her birthday or Christmas, or even letters, not to confuse her. Does ANYONE have any advise?

I just received a letter from CSE saying they were gonna close my case for my non-cooperation. I called them and was very upset, for 8 years now I have given them everything I know, everytime I find something out. Now, they know where he is and they still haven’t done anything. I just don’t know what else to do. I understand they have a lot of cases but 8 years is a long time to wait for no help. He even went to court with CSE and he was sent home because I was not informed, therefore I wasn’t there. When I found out I went to the local office and they said it was not their responsibility to let the custodial parent know everything. I was my job to call. What else can i do????????
My lawyer states I can expect nothing more than the base guidelines for child support and alimony. I will never work, my youngest child, 8 years old is severally mentally disabled, married 16 years, ex to be income 0,000, my income on SS 20,000, plus childrens SS disability 10,000.
My husband wants to file for divorce stating marriage isn’t for him. He says this after 8 years together. We have a 6 year old daughter and another on the way. My parents have been seperated for 8 + years. They haven’t spoken since and legally are still married. They do have seperation papers which each of them have a copy of. Is there such a law that says that if you’re seperated for a certain number of years, you’re actually divorced, by law?
