How does one find a specific type of lawyer?
I need a lawyer in family law/divorce that knows how the Federal Government works in cases of divorce, such as spousal support, health insurance etc. How do I find that type of lawyer?

Contact your county bar association. They know who practices which specialties.

If you’re looking for a lawyer, the yellow pages is a good place to start, because you’re guaranteed to find a local firm. Many credible firms are also listed online for your convenience. And if you’re really in a rut, there are often lawyer referral services: Give them a call, and if you explain the basics of your case (maybe a little more detailed than what you mentioned here), they’ll find a member lawyer who can assist you. Several lawyers are members of a referral service, including myself and all of my colleagues at our firm.
Once you have found a lawyer, arrange for an initial consultation to get a feel for how they see your case, and to determine if they are the right attorney for your case.(Most lawyers offer free 30 min to 1 hr consultation sessions). If you decide the lawyer is not what you’re looking for, you can keep looking using this advice until you find the right attorney.

You need to check out sites like the one below. They have lawyer reviews and have a very informative article on things to look for in an attorney. Good luck!
