You contact the courthouse for the paperwork and you fill it out and both of you sign it, submit it to the judge, and you pay your court fees. you can only do this type of divorce if the divorce is uncontested and you both agree on how the assests will be split up. SOME places will not let you do this type of divorce if children are involved. if you find that you need a lawyer then contact your local legal aid. what you want is a Pro Se divorce. There they will be able to tell you if you can do a divorce yourself. They will also have the forms you can print and instructions on how to file them. I dont know your state, unfortunately in my state (NY) i am in the only state where you have to have 1 or 6 grounds to divorce or the only thing you can do is a legal separation and you have to be legally separated for 1 full year.
