Family lawyers: Do you enjoy your work?
Family law sounds like an interesting career path for me. Therefore, I was wondering whether any divorce lawyers out there enjoyed their work.
Do you enjoy your work more than you enjoyed college and/or law school?
Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

If they/you went for it, then it must mean you like something in that field(family law). I wouldn’t go for that, just because of soo many life stories and mistreats of children and dangerous divorce matters. Law school would be almost the same, just a different path of a concentration.

I’ve worked for family law attorneys. Let’s just say that when people are involved in a family law case, they behave horribly. You will be helping them through one of the worst times of their lives and they will expect you to hear every complaint, battle and story. I’ve only seen one friendly divorce in my life. People use their own kids against each other. Family law issues often turn into criminal issues too. The kids often suffer, especially if custody is an issue. Just make sure you know you are helping people divorce, seek custody, etc. but these people often don’t do anything to help themselves…like seeking counseling. I left working in family law firms because the drama was awful. A lot of people also get divorced because one of the spouses is a drug addict. I’ve even been afraid for my life because one of the clients was making death threats. It’s just as bad as criminal law.
