What does it take to be a family services lawyer?

Ok so im 22 years old and ive been going through hell just to try and see my son, I have done nothing wrong but my sons mother feels that if I do not want to be with her then I cannot see my child. She wont even take my money for the baby so I just deposit it in a bank account for him. I have been really thinking of going to school but I do not know what profession I want to take. But I have been really considering being a family services lawyer to help fathers in my situation. Sometimes its not the dads fault but I believe that the legal system is this country is so messed up that the law favors women allot more than men even tho the mother is wrong. What to I have to do besides hard work and dedication to be a family services lawyer? What affordable law schools would you recommend?

i need help with the law on legally leaveing in texas?

i ran away when i was 14, the cop said i could leave my house and go live with my grandma when i was 17, i am now 17 and my dad is telling me that he talked to some family lawyer and the law says i can’t leave unless i get emancipated by a judge to have the rights of an 18 year old, or if he gives me permission, and he says he won’t, so i have to stay until im 18. is this right? or is he lying? i know i can’t own property yet, but can i leave his house without his permission, legally?

Can a relative appoint themselves as a lawyer for a family case?

I have just decided to start writing a novel. The idea involves a daughter appointing herself as her mother’s lawyer. I wasn’t sure if this is possible, I am going to start researching into law in order to help further with the book but would love some advice on this so I can get kick started! Thanks.

Family lawyers: Do you enjoy your work?

Family law sounds like an interesting career path for me. Therefore, I was wondering whether any divorce lawyers out there enjoyed their work.

Do you enjoy your work more than you enjoyed college and/or law school?

Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

What are some good law schools? Particularly for Family Law?

I’m graduating from college soon. Now I’m not the best student when it comes to GPA…I have a 2.9 currently, which I’m trying to get higher, so I’m not looking for a top of the academic chart’s law school. I want to become a family lawyer and I’m looking for a law school that will give me opportunities for family law involvement, specifically certain programs. If anyone has any suggestions, PLEASE let me know…I’m open to anywhere, but I’ve also been thinking about Texas?

Anyone know a free or cheap family law attorney/lawyer in Houston?

I am needing a free or low cost family law attorney in the Houston area. I have physical custody of my sisters son (7) & we are suing her ex (his dad) for child support. He is hiding from being served & refuses to pay or even come to court. Whenever we have spoken to him he always threatens us with getting visitation. We are VERY fearful that he will get visits & he has MULTIPLE felonies & has been in prison twice. I need help because we need him to help financially support his son? I know what you’re thinking, he has a right to see his son, but he is dangerous & its not in his sons best interest?

I am in need of a good family law attorney in Lubbock, TX?

I am the father of a little girl. I had a lawyer whom did not fight for me at all in court, he did not show any of the proof that I had worked so hard on, he didn’t even ask any proper questions. I am wondering if anyone knows of a GOOD attorney who will FIGHT for me, any help will be greatly appreciated. Even if it’s which ones NOT to use!!

Whats the difference between a ll.m degree and a jd. degree in law school?

Here’s the thing. I wanna go to law school. I’m a junior in college right now. I want to be a family law lawyer – still debating the aspect but i’m leaning towards divorce. Would I need to get a LL.M degree for that, or would a JD be sufficient? And if I did have to get a LL.M degree how much longer would that take than doing the standard JD?

Also, I haven’t taken my LSAT’s yet. Should I do that soon, or when I’m a senior? And I’m double majoring in English and Poli Sci and my GPA is at about a 3.5 or 3.6, what else should I do to better my chances of getting into a decent law school?
