Anyone know a free or cheap family law attorney/lawyer in Houston?
I am needing a free or low cost family law attorney in the Houston area. I have physical custody of my sisters son (7) & we are suing her ex (his dad) for child support. He is hiding from being served & refuses to pay or even come to court. Whenever we have spoken to him he always threatens us with getting visitation. We are VERY fearful that he will get visits & he has MULTIPLE felonies & has been in prison twice. I need help because we need him to help financially support his son? I know what you’re thinking, he has a right to see his son, but he is dangerous & its not in his sons best interest?

Try calling the Texas state BAR and ask for a low cost family law attorney. I’m not sure of what Texas does, but in Florida the BAR can arrange for a $25 first consultation with the type of attorney you need.

go to www;legal aids attorney,small claims court.goo lucky. there our some that will not charge you to talk to them about your situation.ask your friends,neighbors, people at church.
1. TX, like all other states, has a government run child support agency that handles establishing and collecting child support for free. You can probably find it from your local court’s website.
2. Contact the local county bar association to see if they have a referral service. And, if they have a low fee or pro bono panel. If they have such, they will have income qualifications.
3. Judges take the safety of the children as a high priority. If you can show that the father is dangerous, or has threatened to take the children, then the court has the authority to limit or restrict visits, or even deny them altogether. However, in order to present the case in a manner that will be effective you will need an attorney.
