American law concerning divorce and paternity?
Hey, my friend was getting a divorce but his ex stalled it because she got pregnant by some other guy and now needs his insurance. As he is in the military stationed overseas he says that he can’t file from there. Does anybody know whether he would automatically considered to be the father (as their legal status is still married) if he doesn’t manage to file for divorce somehow?
Any help is appreciated.

Generally when two people are married it is considered automatic paternity for any child born during the marriage, unless the mother names someone else as the father. He should tread carefully and be prepared to order a DNA test to prove he is not the father if necessary. I don’t know specific laws regarding his obligation to the child since they are married. He might want to seek legal council.
